Home 2.0: Six Value-Adding Improvement Projects
Friday, March 03, 2017
When you buy a house, it’s always going to be a work in progress. The first few upgrade projects involve putting your own stamp on things, but there are likely to be a whole load of other ideas in the back of your mind that you want to get on with. Not only does home improvement improve the overall quality of your house, it also adds value if you are thinking of selling it on at some point.
Here are a few home improvement projects that you could consider in the near future.
Painting
Let’s start off with a relatively cheap one. It’s amazing what a difference a lick of paint can make. It generally freshens up the look of the interior of your house, and also allows you to give a room an entirely new feeling and ambiance. You should also consider painting the outside of your home if it is looking a little tired and dull. If this seems like too big a project, even painting your front door can make all the difference.
Build a Deck
The great thing about having a deck in your back garden is that it gives a nice transition from the interior to the exterior of your home. As well as this, it provides the perfect platform for outdoor entertainment. Using natural, rustic wood gives a pleasant feel to the area. Building a deck can also add a decent amount of value to your home.
Update the Kitchen
It’s a job that pretty much everyone does during their time living in a house, but there’s no doubt updating the kitchen can make a big difference. As well as giving it a more modern feel, there is the opportunity to install new appliances which are likely to be much more energy efficient than the previous ones.
Install a Home Lift
If you live with someone who has mobility problems, a home lift can really make all the difference. Terry Lifts offers a range of options if you are planning on doing this. Alternatively, you may just be looking for something innovative and special, giving off a futuristic feel to your home.
Replace the Windows
If your notice a through draught in your house, it might well be time to replace the windows. Invest in some new panes and you should notice a difference in no time. Not only this, you will find yourself saving money on your heating bills so you should make a return on your investment over time.
Install Air Conditioning
On the other side of the coin, if you live in a warm area and you find that your home is getting continually hot and stuffy, it may well be time to think about putting in some air conditioning. Consider a centralised model as this is much more efficient than the ones which are single-window mounted. Best of all, air conditioning can boost the value of your home by 10-20 percent!
