Jewelry Storage and Organizing Projects You can DIY
Wednesday, February 25, 2015
Most women love jewelry. The more items they have, the more they want. They keep on buying stuff until they don't know where to store it any longer. Well, here are a couple of jewelry storage organizer ideas that will help you keep your items organized. Before you begin work, choose an area of your home, which is easy to clean. You may stack some paper on the work area (or the floor) to keep it from getting dirty and messy.
Portable Decorative Jewelry Board
We begin with a simpler design. This project is very easy to create and it takes a little time. The board you're going to use to hang your jewelry on can be used to decorate any room. That seems like killing two birds with one stone!
Here is what you need:
- Magnetic hangers/hooks
- Medium-sized steel board
- Paint
Here is how it's done:
Before you begin, you may want to paint your magnetic hangers. They need to match the colour and design of the room you're going to place the board in. When you're done, let them air dry.
When the paint dries, simply place the magnets on the steel board and then hang your jewellery. This jewelry organizer is best for bracelets and necklaces.
The benefits of using this jewelry organizer project is that the hooks can be removed anytime, as they are magnetic. So if you want your steel board to serve another purpose, other than to decorate your wall and keep your treasures organised, you can easily disassemble it. Another advantage of the decorative board is that it is portable. If it doesn't match the décor of your bedroom, for example, you can display it in another room.
Wooden Jewelry Organizer
Our next suggestion is wooden jewelry organizer. This project is definitely doable and functional. It also looks pretty good.
Here is what you need:
- Picture hanger set
- Brass cup hooks (solid)
- Brass screw eyes (solid and small)
- Wooden utensil holder
Here is how it's done:
There are a couple of options when it comes to this do-it-yourself project. The first one is to use the wooden holder as a storage box. In that case you will only need to place your jewelry, from rings and bracelets to necklaces and others, inside. No extra effort is necessary. But if you want to display your wooden holder, continue with the following steps.
Mark the holder. You need to place the screws, distributing them evenly to allow sufficient space for your jewelry. Feel free to use a ruler to do the trick.
Attach the screws. This may be the hardest part of the project. Make sure your hands are dry before you begin or it will be hard for you to twist those screws. You may want to use a paper towel if your hands tend to sweat a lot. Another trick you can try is to start every hole using something big and sharp like an ice pick. Don't get too carried away though because you may punch a bigger hole than you need.
Don't forget to place two screws on the back of the wooden utensil holder so that you can hang it on a wall later on. Make sure you space evenly the two screws.
The last step is to attach the picture holder wire. Send it through the screws and twist it around itself to secure it. Then using pliers, cut the excess wire. You're done.
